The seven-story Royal Sonesta Hotel is built in traditional French Quarter style, with gabled windows, French doors and wrought-iron balconies where a passing parade of world travelers along Bourbon Street can be viewed, especially during Mardi Gras. Desires Seafood and Oyster Bar opens directly onto Bourbon Street and emits an Old French diner vibe. The Irving Mayfield Jazz Playhouse hosts live music Thursday through Saturday. Begues Restaurant is a French Quarter landmark that prepares authentic French and Creole dishes. PJ's Coffee is also on site. The on-site Begues Restaurant is named after Madame Begue who originated grand New Orleans breakfasts that evolved into today's buffet-style brunch.
